    76ERS WIN STATE TITLE !
Sean Johnson threw a masterful
three hit shutout and Casey
Raisbeck broke the game open
with a two run single in the sixth
to fuel the 76ers past the Cedar
Rapids Cougars 3-0 and win the
Iowa state championship. Johnson
allowed only three hits,struck out
seven without walking a hitter in
a tidy one hour and ten minute
gem. The 76ers, (19-5) on July 8,
reeled off twenty one wins in their
last twenty two games to finish
with a glossy (40-6) record.
     RECORDS TUMBLE !!!!!
Ben Irmen re-wrote the 76er record
book this season. He set single
season records in at bats (160),
runs (49),hits (61), and stolen bases
(28). Three of those records were
held by former Oakland A's farmhand
and current Arena Football league star
Matt Forbes. The at-bat record was
held by Mike Kane. Irmen also set the
career stolen base record when he
swiped his 58th bag, breaking the
record held by Eric Boster.
Casey Raisbeck set the single season
doubles record (held by many, see
records page) when he slammed his
15th.
Andrew Porter set the single season
strikeout record, set by himself in
2005. He fanned 81 this summer. He
also set the single season record for
innings pitched, surpassing Christian
Jackson's 63. Porter narrowly passed
Jackson, tossing 63 2/3 innings.
